Capital One is aggressively building a premium lounge network across the United States. For years, American Express dominated the premium airport lounge space. Now, Capital One is opening luxurious spaces with local food, grab-and-go counters, and premium amenities. Let us look at where you can currently relax and which airports are getting a Capital One Lounge next.
Currently Open Capital One Lounges
Capital One currently operates three full-size airport lounges. Each location offers a unique menu tailored to the region, premium cocktail bars, and standard amenities like high-speed Wi-Fi and ample charging ports.
Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW)
The very first Capital One Lounge opened at DFW in November 2021. You will find it in Terminal D near Gate D22. This 10,000-square-foot space set the standard for the entire network. Visitors can use a dedicated cycling room equipped with Peloton bikes, freshen up in spacious shower suites, or rest in quiet relaxation rooms. The food focuses on Texas-inspired bites, and the cold brew coffee is always on tap.
Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD)
Located in the Main Terminal just past the TSA PreCheck security checkpoint, the Dulles lounge opened in September 2023. This 8,500-square-foot space is incredibly convenient for departing passengers. It features mid-century modern furniture, a full service coffee bar, and plenty of natural light. The grab-and-go cooler here is fully stocked with fresh sandwiches, juices, and packaged snacks for travelers rushing to their gates.
Denver International Airport (DEN)
The Denver location opened in November 2023 and is located in Concourse A near Gate 34. At 10,800 square feet, it is slightly larger than the DFW location. Capital One partnered with local Colorado breweries and bakeries to provide regional flavor. This lounge includes private phone booths, two shower suites, and a massive bar serving craft cocktails.
Upcoming Capital One Lounge Locations
The company has officially confirmed two major expansions for its traditional lounge network. If either of these is your home airport, you have a lot to look forward to in the near future.
Las Vegas Harry Reid International Airport (LAS)
Capital One is building a new 7,800-square-foot lounge at LAS. It will be located in the Concourse D Rotunda. This location is strategically placed, as Concourse D handles a massive volume of domestic flights. While an exact opening date is not yet confirmed, construction is actively underway. Travelers can expect the signature mix of craft cocktails, fast Wi-Fi, and premium seating.
New York John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK)
JFK is getting the largest Capital One Lounge to date. The company is taking over a 13,000-square-foot space in Terminal 4. Terminal 4 is the busiest terminal at JFK and serves Delta Air Lines as well as dozens of international carriers. This flagship location will feature an expanded dining room, enhanced shower facilities, and sweeping views of the tarmac.
The New Concept: Capital One Landings
In addition to traditional lounges, the company is rolling out a brand new concept called Capital One Landings. These spaces are slightly smaller and focus heavily on high-quality culinary experiences rather than showers or nap rooms.
To make this happen, Capital One partnered with the José Andrés Group. Travelers will find authentic Spanish tapas, premium wines, and a curated dining experience.
There are currently two Capital One Landings in development:
- Washington National Airport (DCA): This Landing will be located in Terminal 2 near the intersection of the National Hall and Concourse D. It will occupy approximately 5,400 square feet.
- New York LaGuardia Airport (LGA): You will find this 10,700-square-foot Landing in the highly praised Terminal B. It will feature an indoor restaurant space and an outdoor patio with views of the New York City skyline.
How to Get Lounge Access
Capital One designed these lounges to reward its premium credit card holders. The access rules are strict, which helps prevent the severe overcrowding seen at other airport lounges.
Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card This card provides the best access. For an annual fee of $395, the primary cardholder receives unlimited access to all Capital One Lounges. You are also allowed to bring two guests with you for free on every visit. Additional guests cost $45 each. Furthermore, authorized users added to your Venture X account get their own unlimited access and their own two free guests.
Capital One Venture X Business Business owners holding this card receive the exact same unlimited access and guest privileges as the personal Venture X cardholders.
Important Rule Changes for Other Cards In previous years, standard Capital One Venture Rewards and Spark Miles cardholders received two complimentary lounge visits per year. However, Capital One discontinued this benefit on January 1, 2025. Standard Venture and Spark cardholders no longer get free access.
Buying a Day Pass If you do not hold a premium Capital One card, you can still get in. Any traveler with a same-day boarding pass can purchase a day pass at the front desk for $65, subject to capacity limits.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I visit a Capital One Lounge when I arrive at my destination? No. Capital One Lounges are restricted to departing and connecting passengers only. You must present a boarding pass for an outbound flight departing within three hours of your arrival at the lounge.
Is the food and alcohol free inside? Yes. All food from the buffet, snacks from the grab-and-go cooler, and standard alcoholic drinks at the bar are complimentary for visitors. Some ultra-premium liquors may carry an extra charge, but the vast majority of the menu is entirely free.
Can I take food out of the lounge? Yes. Unlike most airport lounges that strictly forbid taking food out, Capital One actively encourages it. Every location features a grab-and-go section with brown bags, packaged sandwiches, cold brew coffees, and fresh fruit specifically designed for you to take on your flight.
Are children allowed in the lounge? Yes. Children are welcome. Kids under the age of two can enter for free and do not count toward your two-guest limit on the Venture X card.
